Entrepreneurship Support for Deserving Couples

At Umar Farooq Educational Trust, we understand that strong families build strong communities. Through our Entrepreneurship Support for Deserving Couples initiative, we aim to empower low-income, skilled couples to build sustainable livelihoods by starting and managing small businesses together.

In India, many couples—especially those from underserved backgrounds—possess talent and determination but lack access to capital, mentorship, or structured support. This initiative is designed to bridge that gap by offering a pathway from skill development to entrepreneurship. We help couples turn ideas and abilities into income-generating ventures that uplift both their families and their communities.

Our Mission

• Reduce financial vulnerability through shared responsibility
• Foster business ownership among underprivileged households

What We Offer

1. Startup Skills & Training : We begin by identifying couples who have completed vocational or digital skill training (plumbing, tailoring, beauty services, cooking, carpentry, etc.).
These couples are then enrolled in our entrepreneurship orientation program, which covers:
• Basic business planning
• Marketing and customer service
• Inventory management
• Budgeting and pricing
• Government schemes & registrations
This is followed by practical workshops on how to launch and run a business as a couple.

2. Micro-Financing & Equipment Support : Through our donor and CSR partner network, we help provide:
•Micro-grants or small loans to eligible couples
• Starter kits (e.g., sewing machines, kitchen tools, beautician kits, carpentry sets)
• Access to local suppliers and equipment providers
• This support removes the initial capital barrier and enables immediate business launch.

3. Ongoing Mentorship & Market Linkages : Starting a business is only the first step. We pair couples with experienced mentors who provide monthly check-ins, growth advice, and troubleshooting support.

We also help with:

• Branding & logo creation
• Promoting through WhatsApp and local marketplaces
• Connecting to exhibitions, trade fairs, and local vendors
